A Fantastic School Start

Our school in Västerås has now been up and running for a little more than a month, and what a fantastic time it has been! It’s wonderful to see students and staff from different schools, different cultures and different countries mix together and create this happy, calm and friendly atmosphere together. I’m very impressed to see the students already picking up and using English in a very natural way. We have had a lot of visitors including important politicians and all have been very impressed by our school, especially by our well-behaved students. It is important now to build on this positive start and keep the momentum going. October is always a very challenging month with assesments, SPT’s and many other things happening. However, every day is a beautiful day here at IES Västerås thanks to our friendly students and our professional staff.

Best,

Mr. Ledin

Ready for furnishing

Ready for furnishing

Dear students and parents,

It is now a little over a month until we open the doors to IES Västerås for the first time and embark on a new academic year.  Ahead of us lies an exciting time with many new opportunities and challenges. I personally look forward to seeing students benefit from the high quality teaching and learning that will take place over the coming months. It will also be a pleasure to build positive relationships that help support and nurture learning throughout our school. My enthusiastic and highly capable staff are eager to embrace the challenges ahead and we look forward to sharing the successes of the future with you.

Last week we had the final inspection of the school building and it is now ready for furnishing in the next couple of weeks. There will be an open house in August before school start so you will be able to see our magnificent school before opening.

Below are some pictures of the school from today.

All the best,
Mr. Ledin

June update

Dear students and parents,

Today shows Sweden at its best; brilliant sunshine, lush greenery, a warm summer's day and the last week before graduation. To think that our school opens in just two months is a very exciting prospect!  All the pieces are falling nicely into place. The school building is nearing completion and we will soon begin furnishing. The foreign teachers have made preparations for their move to Sweden- both they and the Swedish staff are very excited to meet you all in August. We are currently working hard on ordering textbooks and equipping our modern classrooms. Schedules and classes will soon be ready and we have taken great care to contract a provider of school lunches who will ensure that we receive first class school meals.

Last week we had a very enjoyable meeting with the future Year 9 students and their mentor Mrs. Alm. We also had their second mentor Mr. Begg from Scotland present via Skype. I’m sure Year 9 will be a great group and perfect role models for the younger students. I look forward to meeting you all soon!

April update

First and foremost, a big thanks to all those who attended our introduction day. It was really nice to meet all future students and parents. The day was a big success thanks to you and the talented teachers and student ambassadors from Internationella Engelska Skolan Eskilstuna.
Our admissions process is in its final stage and we ask those of you who have been offered places to answer as soon as possible.
Later this spring, when the school building is taking shape, we will invite you to an open house so that you can see the premises. Recruitment of staff is running excellently and we will get a very strong team of teachers at the school.

Best Regards,

Peter Ledin, Principal
